1992 evinrude 15hp need advice...

Ok.. heres the details on whats going on with the engine.

1992 15HP long shaft owned since 1994 and has low hours
sat for 4 years and just before storage in 2008 would bog down after engine got hot (may not be related) wasn't too bad but it would definitely loose some HP. replaced the coils recently thinking that might be the problem.
thermostat has been removed.

Got it out this past week and ran it for a while.. .seemed ok but plugs looked wet (water?)
replaced the impeller this evening since it was original.
Ran fine but once warmed up the water would stop streaming out of the cooling port in the back. shut down immediately.

lastly there seem to be fine cracks on the carburator bowl.

I'm concerned that it overheated at some point and how I have a crack in engine. makes sense when it warms the
crack opens up and lets water in.
any thoughts would be great? what can I do to pinpoint the problem. compression check?

Pull the head and exhaust cover and check. Thermostat???

Will I able to see the crack visually if I pull the head? Thermostat is out. I pulled it out thinking that it may be bad.

Pulling the thermostat on that engine, it will run hot on cyl #1 at low rpm!!
When did you last change impeller? Almost a yearly service on those engines, in particular the long shafts.

Thanks for the good advice here. I bought a new thermostat and gaskets. Seems to run fine. I may have had some water in the tank. Not really sure but pulled the head off and the gasket looks good. Running it tomorrow and see how she does.
