Welcome postman!

You need to be aware of alarms associated with the engine. There is a horn that will tone when certain conditions arise. The horn is in the control box or if a flush mount, the alarm horn will be under the dash.

A steady tone will mean the engine is overheating or there is no or restricted fuel flow if the engine is equipped with this alarm.

A 1/2 sec. tone every 20 sec's. or so mean the oil reservoir is low.

An urgent 1/2 sec tone every 1/2 sec. means you have no or restricted oil flow.

Any tone should be dealt with immediately or possible engine damage can occur.

If you want to hear the horn and make sure it's at least working, look on the heads for a single tan wire coming from the heads. These are the leads from the temp sensors in the heads. Follow either lead until you find a rubber boot covering the knife connector. Pull the rubber boot back to expose the knife connector. With the key in the on position (don't start the engine) ground the connection to the engine block. You should hear a steady tone from the alarm horn....this at least tells you it's active.

Getting a service manual for the engine would be a good move. It'll give you info on testing the other alarms as well as service info.

Let us know if you have any other questions and thanks for joining us..... :)
