Hello all.
I just bought the engine above. The PO lost oil pressure from a leaking oil line during an outing and then took the boat to the marina where they told them the engine was shot since it now had low compression.
I got it home and started it. Seems to start just fine, so I did a compression check. The numbers were low 60 -100 psi so I poped the heads off to take a look. To my surprise the cylinder walls look pretty good. Only light scuffing and no gouges. It looks like a hone and some new rings will freshen it right up.
OK here's my question: Can I just remove the Reed Block to get to the rod caps for removing the pistons, or does the power head have to come off and the block split?
