1992 Mercury 115hp outboard.

I am currently running the stock prop on my boat.(48 77348 A40 21P) Its has a few dings and I ran it in a sand bar once, so I'm sure its not very "true". I really can not figure out the dimensions of the stock prop. I have been searching on craigs list and found a Stainless "Turbo 3-blade M-14 1/2 x 22". Can I go from the stock prop to this one? What do I have to loose going from 21 pitch to 22 pitch? The boat is a 1992 Starcraft 190 Super Fisherman. I love how the boat performs right now, gets on plain quick, runs about 41mph on gps and just under 5100 rpms. I do have issues when turning the boat at wot, and need to back off the throttle or trim the motor down. Like I said I think the current prop is perfect for the boat.

Jasper, in my opinion it is too much prop for your boat and you will lose too many RPM. It has too muh blade surface area.

Thank you for the quick reply. I'm not sure what you are talking about when you say blade surface area. Would you happen to have an Idea on the spec's on my stock prop?

Jasper, the blades are too big for your motor and the hub won't fit your lower unit as well, it is too big. You have on there now a 12.75 x 21" pitch prop. I hope that explains things.

Shoot this is not what I wanted to hear. I could have got the turbo prop for 50.00 in perfect condition. Would you happen to have any recommendations on a good replacement stainless props?

Remember, your gearcase is a 4.25" and you'll need a prop that's in the 12 3/4 to 13 1/2" range. Some 13 3/4" props may work. A 14 1/4" Turbo is made for the 4 3/4" gearcases (V6 style).

(We'll assume the X dimension is correct for that style prop since you have to trim in slightly to turn) You might look for something with more lift like a Turbo Lightning Jr. They don't make it anymore but I know where there is a 13 1/2 x 20 Lightning Jr, brand new.

I tried a 19 that I had left over from my last boat. It had a 1980 115 merc. on it and it was great for that boat. When I put it on the Starcraft I had a real hard time getting going, I think i was having cavitation problems. So I would be worried to go with a lower pitch prop. I was going to buy this one because I could have got it for 50.00

You can buy it if you like but it's not going to fit on your gearcase but it does look like a heck of a deal (think about it.....).

Don't judge all smaller pitch props by the one you tried. Not all 19" props are created equal........
