Hey all,

I am a new owner of a project 1992 Monterey 206 SCR (Open Bow) 20' with Yamaha v8 I/O. Yes, I know, I have a "Project Problem" So far, the interweb has let me down. I can't find much of anything for parts or manuals for a '92 Monterey 206 SCR. So, my question for you folks is this: Are parts and manuals for this generation of 206 SCR (1992-1995 I believe) like unicorns? Even eBay and Amazon are coming up Zilch other the boat covers and Bimini Tops. I"m also trying to find a good pic online of the dash so I can label the switches. Searched Bing and Google Images extensively and every image I find when I blow it up to see the labels, they get fuzzy, so I've struck out there so far too. I don't need any major parts, but would like some info on what each dash switch is for as the labels are all faded out or gone. I can switch on/off to figure out some, but not all. I have not really began to dig into the project yet, but my initial assessment is it needs:
  1. replace main area flooring in the main portion soon
  2. tilt system is a bit hit/miss (maybe just a fluid flush/fill will do the trick, we'll see)
  3. source the proper fwd/rev facing seat pair. As of right now, although all the interior is pretty new (done 2 PO's ago), there are only 2 fwd facing main seats at the console/dash instead of the dual front;rear facing seat setup.
  4. glove box replacement
  5. nav lights replacement
  6. need to make and upholster the engine cover center pad to match the rest.
Some pics for your perusal.

I did find this old thread that doesn't give me much hope to my question though  : https://forums.iboats.com/forum/gene...dy-information

And this one was a good read for me too regardign flooring: https://forums.iboats.com/forum/gen...estions-not-engine-topics/245685-206-monterey

You likely won't find any parts manuals or owners manuals for the boat itself. Even today in new boats they are pretty much non-existent.
I would say before you get too far into the boat, I would be sourcing parts and any manuals you can find for for the Yamaha I.O as those are about as rare as frog hair. I've literally seen one in my life.

Yeah, I get that. The manual was really just another way to find out what dash switches work what. Didn't realize the Yamaha I/O was such a unicorn itself. That could be a good thing or a bad thing....lol

I bought my boat brand new off the show room... and no manual. You have to look at every thing separately. The gauges are one manufacturer, the top is one manufacturer, the outdrive is not the same manufacturer as the motor. All warranties were different and the manufacturer of the boat does not support all the components, frustrating I know...

Honestly, just start flipping switches and see what they do. I am not aware of any switches that would cause any harm to the system. Odds are you have:

Blower
Lights (3 way switch, one way for anchoring the other for Nav lights)
Bilge Pump
Interior lighting (if equipped)
Wiper (if equipped)
My horn switch is right in line with the rest of my switch
Docking lights (if equipped)

If they do not work, start tracing wires to what the switch operates

Okay, I get the manual. I only suggested that as an option to tell me which switches do what. So we can forget the boat manual.

I finally had some time to spend on the boat this morning before it got to be 1,000 degrees outside with 100% humidity.....yuk!!

TOP LEFT
1) Horn
2) Nav Lights (3-way)
3) **??Unknown??**
4) Engine Compartment Air Vent Fan

**Switch #3 on the left? I found 2 capped off wires in the engine bay area (one Black, one Brown w/white stripe). I get 12vdc on this wire group when Left side #3 switch is turned on. Any idea what that may go to? I haven't found anything back there that is missing a connection or not powered already? I could connect a nice spot light or inside LED strips to it if it isn't supposed to go to something else nothing else.

TOP RIGHT
1) Dash Console Backlights (some bulbs out)
2) Bilge
3) ??Unknown??
4) ??Unknown??

Don't know yet what Right Side #3 and #4 are for yet. They light up when turned on, but don't activate anything. I even checked for the radio and the accessory "cig lighter/charging" port, but both of those are always HOT even with key off. I'll have to get under the console to figure that out I reckon. I'm hoping nothing and it's just maybe some extra ACC circuits I can add things to. It started getting too damned hot just that fast, so I stopped there. Got a few things on order that I needed.

- Nav lights front/back
- New radio - screen burnt/unusable on the one installed
- Cup holder inserts (missing a couple)

Still haven't found a source for the glove box door. I do have the fwd/rear seat sets in my iBoat shopping cart, but haven't spent that coin just yet.

On the left side black and brown wire with white stripe was probably another bilge pump.

There's a good chance that the two switches on the right side at one point in time controlled b radio and cigarette lighter/ 12 volt DC power outlet. whether or not those two were both on the same circuit or not is hard to say. Have you found any courtesy lights anywhere tucked away? if yes then one of the switches on the right hand side probably powered those and the other switch powered your radio and 12-volt DC power port

Finally I felt have way decent and it wasn't 40-hell's hot this morning so I went back out to continue working on the rig for a bit.

- The 2 "unknown" switches on the right side were in fact not hooked to anything, so that was easy enough.
- The left (#3) switch that runs power to the aforementioned wires I suppose I'll use for something down the road.
So, that is all resolved.

Now onto the Trim not working. When the trim button is hit to down, the relays energize and I'm getting power across the main terminals. Getting nothing on the Up side though (maybe a switch, but I'll have to dig into that later.

I can tell that someone has recently replaced the top solenoid/relay on that set and I found the old one in one of the side pockets. So, I went to the pump itself. I am getting no movement of fluid on it. Problem now is that thing has no id plate at all with a good part number. I'll do some searching to see what I can find. Although my previous part searching for anything for this make/model boat has come up with Ziltch!!

More to come when I have more to share.

Found this great explanation, so now I'm motivated....lol --> http://www.boatpartsinfo.com/2017/10...-tilt-systems/

Appears there is nothing new available OEM or aftermarket, but did find 2 listed on eBay. After I verify it's the pump itself, I'll make offers on them and see what happens.

To determine if it's the switch, just swap the wires at the switch. If it still only goes down your switch is good and there's a problem in the wires

Shoot, I forgot to go back and edit that last post. Turns out my son (who was pushing the switch) just wasn't pushing hard enough. Switch is good. But just to eliminate any potential wire ghosts, I used my remote car starter jumper switch going direct from the battery to each solenoid. Solenoids are both good. Found the connection under the dash for the switch itself and it tested good as well.

As I mentioned, I also found 2 OEM used trim motors on fleeBay that had BIN's and Make an Offer. So made an offer on one of them. Just 30 minutes ago it was accepted. Got it coming for only $75 shipped. The other was closer to $300, so I figure I got a pretty good deal there.

I hope to have it on hand sometime next week and will go from there.
