I ran across an ad in my local paper for this motor in new, never used cond for $500.Ive never heard of this brand before and need info quick. Is it any good? Will be using it as a kicker motor for a 1997 Bayliner Trophy.Do I definitely need a longshaft motor for this boat(in case its a shortshaft)?

This is purely a guess. The motor is probably built by Force Not known for their reliability or performance. Also parts will be tough in the future. But at 500 bucks I might be tempted for a kicker motor.I believe a long shaft is better for a kicker motor but a short shaft will work.I dont know what your bayliner is like but the motor will probably do better on a kicker mount
and be aware reaching controls could be awkward.
depending on how deep the Bayliner is.

I ran a 15 hp force 1985 model on my little boat for a long time before I upgraded to my 20 merc, I had not trouble with it at all, I decarbed once a month and changed impellor once every 18 months as I live in clear water did not warrant more often. It was a great little motor and I wish that I still had it. 500 is a very good deal, that is almost what I sold mine for. Force big motors where not the greatest, but the little motors are excellent motors. I dont think that you would want it for a kicker, as I dont recall force ever producing a longshaft 15hp. Great motors though.
