i just bought a used bass boat with a 115 yammie. i've never had a boat with a remote oil tank. how is the oil transferred to the motor. is there a pump in the tank? is there a filter? this remote tank is new to me. i had a 90 yammie and it had the oil tank mounted to the engine under the cowling.

there is an electric oil transfer pump in the back side of the remote oil tank.
there is a small inline oil filter ,that requires periodic maint, at the remote oil tank outlet.
mounted just below the engine oil tank is an oil control module containing a mercury switch and an emergency transfer switch.
inside the engine oil tank there are 3 reed switchs controled by a magnetic float.
float all the way up and the transfer pump off circuit is closed and the control module removes the pump ground path, float at midway and the pump on circuit is closed and the module creates a transfer pump ground path and the transfer pump runs.
float all the way down and the audible alarm command is set and the RPM reduction mode is sent to the CDI unit to limit RPM to about 2000 RPM max.
this cycle of pump on then pump off simply repeats itself about every 20 minutes while the boat is running, depending on how much oil is being consumed.
its a very simple setup that kicks a lot of techs butts.
do a forum search for precision blend.

Rodbolt - what periodic maintenance does the remote filter require. I have a 93 that to my knowledge has never had a filter change or service on it...

Cheers and thanks

I am going to replace this filter unless you can service it....is pulling it off and cleaning a viable option. If it is simply a screen it should be doable?

Cheers
