Have above Twins on 23 Formula, Wanted to see if anyone thought going to V6 gears is feasible, would love to get 30 cruise at lower than 5000 RPM , I know, I can go propeller route, but 17 pitch gives good bite and should keep load lower on shaft? Anyway, this is my sunday night ponderence.
Thanks

V 6 lower units will fit on the V 4 loopers.----I believe the commercial models used the V 6 lowers.-------See a dealer to discuss performance.

In 85 and 86 the first couple of years of the V4 loopers were introduced they had the V6 gearcase with 28:13 gear ratios. Around 87 or 88 they switched to the smaller V4 gearcase. They were having a lot of hesitation problems with the 2 liter loopers and along with changes to carb calibrations and timings, the smaller V4 case was substituted. Smaller prop, lower load on the engine. A lot of V6 cases have a 26:14 ratio

The V6 is a 1:85 ratio and the V4s with the large case used different ratio of 2:1.You would benefit using the larger case with 2:1 ratio as you could swing a larger diameter prop.
