OK Long story short I had starting and running issues. Took the boat to a "mechanic", I thought, at the coast and found water in the seperator. "Cleaned" the carbs. Fine Problem solved. WRONG. Fouling the number four plug and intermidant fire on other plugs. The "mechanic" said power pack. 380.00 later (from another dealer) same thing. Brought the boat home, bad vacation, and took to local marina, they CLEANED the carbs said the engine started fine. Has always been a female dog to start. Then started backfiring. Pulled the flywheel and three of the magnets were loose and stuck together. They had an OMC kit to glue the magnets back in place. Will find out tomorrow if this is THE FIX. My question after all this rambling is, is this a common issue with these engines. Oh and by the way we were WAY lucky that no damage was dine to the stator. Thanks for your replys.

It's not uncommon for that to happen. It's very important to clean and rough the surface before adhering the magnets to get long life from them.
I bet your tach and charging system will benefit too!
Good luck

Re: 1993 200HP Ocean Pro Fly Wheel

I checked on the boat this afternoon and they say it purrs like a kitten, untill they try to switch it off. They say that the kill switch is only killing the left bank of cylinders and not the right. I took them the old power pack and will update ya'll tomorrow. I think, and it is a very uneducated think, that maybe there is a loose ground wire that was over looked ???

Thanks for the reply.

That will be "connected" (or unconnected) the the shift interuppter and / or related wiring.

Was it hard to shift out of forward?

No it is not at all hard to shift. Just checked on the boat and after putting the old power pack back on the issue is fixed. We will take her to the lake this weekend and check her out.

We took her out on the lake today and boy was it fun. She ran like never before, planes out faster, runs smoother and faster. WOT 6100-6200 RPM we left the GPS at home so not sure about the speed. Oh and we caught a coule of fish to.
