Hi guys!

just in a bit of a mess, so 5 months ago I had my boat out over Christmas and it didn’t miss a beat, yesterday for the first time since then I took it to the lake and as I drifted out of the boat ramp I tried accelerating and the engine cut out...

I assumed it could be from dirty fuel or water in the fuel as we did have heavy rain fall at the start of the year, so I went and bought a new tank, new fuel, and fuel line to the motor just in case water was getting in... I disconnected the fuel altogether and let the engine run dry before trying the new tank but it never fixed the issue...

I then replaced both spark plugs, and did a compression test while at it and both cylinders came back at 125... I’ve read multiple pages and obviously getting different ideas of what it could be... some saying they had a similar problem which was a main earth? I think ive check the earths and I cannot see any issue (good connection and clean- if I’m looking at the right ones) and also a temp sensor? I see that runs into the head and would need to pull that off to get at it?

I made a video if anyone wouldn’t mind taking a look and giving an opinion on the issue... maybe I can send you a carton of beer!

I will take it to a mechanic, but just trying my luck before I do that!
Much love
Kieran

seems to be starving for fuel as it accelerates. have you tried cleaning the carb or running an engine cleaner product in the fuel . Some like Seafoam some don't..
doesn't take much to clog a carb hs orifice. at least...try a blast of carb cleaner .

try pumping the fuel bulb to see if it affects performance when it starts to sputter and die. if it clears up then you know fuel delivery is an issue

Revving a motor on a hose is not a good idea.----Carburetor is too lean.-----Open up low speed mixture 1/2 turn.-----Or throttle plate is opening to early.---Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" or more.----Motors need a new impeller every 5 years for peace of mind.

Thanks guys, not too confident in pulling a carby apart to clean jets... may just leave it for a mechanic?

no need to pull the carb...

just unscrew the bolt.#12 . find a fine wire 26 ga or 2 -4pound monofilament should do and ream out the crud in the hs jet and blow in some carb cleaner followed by a blast of air (if you have no compressor use a can of keyboard air can at the dollar store ($4) or a computer shop
