Well, I picked up a ?used one time? 2 ton crane for 150$. The guy was even nice enough to deliver it to me at work, saved me gas money and taxes so I can?t complain. My dad has agreed to help me on Sunday with the trailer wood reinforcement, I?ll be trying to do most of the motor stand on Saturday before he gets there. I?ll try and take plenty of pictures!

Thank you, I like the idea of doubling the support I just had a difficult time picturing it.

Thanks Skipper Sean ! I'd really like to have everything done but the top cap removal by the end of this weekend, that way I can take my time over the course of the next week or so worrying about the rest. My wife and I will be cleaning the garage out to make space to put the boat in after I get the sanding done, and most if not all of the rest of the project will be done in there. I can angle the boat in with clearance of about 2 feet (front to back our garage is 20, with the trailer the boat is 21'6") so, despite us not being able to close the garage door, it'll at least be better protected from the elements.

You're moving right along. As the others stated, boat rebuilding isn't rocket science, just gotta have the "want to", time, and money. Wife support does help morale from time to time though, lol.

Thanks Baylinerchuck, I?ve got a timeline in my head in order to get this ready by next Spring/Summer so long as the budget allows for it. Wife and I had a long talk as I finally let her know how guilty I felt over the boat rot (she had wanted to wait until after the new year to buy a boat) and she was fine with it, just wants this done ONCE and done RIGHT. One thing we both can agree on lol, so as long as this weekend goes smoothly I?ll look to have the whole boat ready to grind within 2 weeks. Fortunately with my job I have the opportunity to put boat work in during the morning time (I don?t go in until 2:00).

Ran into another issue I hadn’t quite thought about this morning. Once the side 2x4 supports are in place the boat won’t be moving, that being said as you can see in the picture the boat is about 2-3? off from being centered. My option would be to go back to the ramp and center it this weekend before anything happens. Thoughts?

Well unfortunately the lifting eye won't be arriving this weekend, so the rest of the plans will have to be postponed. On a good note, I went out and purchased all the screws/lumber for the motor mount and boat bracing. I've got an interesting plan to do that, and I plan on posting plenty of pictures. I purchased another 4x8 1/2" foam board with the intention of making boat templates, but also using small pieces of it to glue on the other side of 1x36" stakes I purchased at Home Depot today (along with my other pieces). I was worried about what the wood might do if it was too tight against the boat, and I figured having the foam would not only deal with that but conform better to the boat's shape. We'll see how that goes tomorrow.

Get a hot glue gun for when you make templates. Helps out alot. And alot of sharp razor blades. I used foam for the underdecking areas and then used cardboard for the deck. I was using "fan foam" boards but alot of stores stopped carrying it for some reason. That was the best for all templates. Is like an 1/8" thick. A whole bail was cheap.

I picked them up for 13$ a sheet kcassells, currently have 3 of them we'll see if I need to snag anymore. My biggest concern is the boat being slightly off level on the trailer before we do anything tomorrow.

You can use a couple of jacks to raise/level the trailer or let some air out of the tires too. Nothing on a boat is level or square. Get close is good enough.

Definitely agree with kcassells . Nothing on a boat is level. Get it close as he suggests and forget about it.

Oh ok good deal, that makes me feel a lot better about it as I was concerned the boat not being completely centered possibly having an effect on hull flex.

Got some good work in today, started around 11 or so this morning and ended just after it got dark. The inside of the 2x4s surrounding the hull are glued to the 1/2" styrofoam board and wedged against the boat, I don't see it going too far but I've also got the 1"x3' stakes with styrofoam already glued to screw into the 2x4s if needed. The bow/aft sections will still be ratcheted, so I felt a little better about possible hull flex after today (could also be the 12 pack my wife brought me who knows lol). Sorry for the pictures, for some reason when they upload they end up being sideways.

Thats a GREAT wife! Looking good and glad to see you moving forward in the right direction. You'll have a great boat when you're done and a safe boat.
Beer please.

Thanks kcassells, I guess my biggest question is, how much bracing is truly needed? I've got these 2x4's wedged against the boat currently, planning on adding a little more support tomorrow (mainly to the front trailer attachments) once I can look at it all again in the light.

Take measurements of the hull, then if anything starts to flex button it up some more. Putting the top back if the hull flexes is a pia I've heard.
