It is a 1993 evinrude 30hp model # E30EETA when I turn is key all it does is chrip then nothing. I jump it and it started, so that would mean that my solinoid is bad. anna
If I understand the problem, it could be the ignition (start) switch, the neutral switch, the starter solenoid, or a bad connection.

c/6

Hooty
akillian,The high pitch chirp noise is likely a weak tone from your control box giving the initial alarm circuit confirmation signal when the key is turned on.Insure that your engine grounds are clean and tight.
OB, I have a good battery a good ground. when I check out volt. from the key switch to the solinoid is good, but from the solinoid to the started is dead. Could this mean is it bad. (solinoid)

------------

thank you anna K.

ps thank you for helping me.
You can test solenoid by jumping from the large continuous 12 v cable on inlet side of solenoid to the small ignition terminal of solenoid and see if the starter engages.Be carefull around flywheel when performing this test.
