Nice boat and....nice Atlantic. Very tasty for sure. Good luck with your Islander, they make great fishing boats. Not sure of the problem you had with the trolling plate, I have ran the happy troller for well over 3o years on different boats and think it is a pretty good unit to get your speed down to where you want it. I troll salmon on the Great Lakes anywhere from 2.5-3.4 sog. The plate in the full down position does not allow those speeds so I notched the plate half way between full open and full closed. (Left circle in pic) This allows me to troll faster plus keep the rpm up around 800 - 1000 for trolling which also keeps the oil pressure up. Also on the outdrive I run the cord up through the hole in the cap on the outdrive so it isn't flailing all over the place. (Right circle in pic.)
