1993 Johnson 115hp VJ115tlets warning alarm

FED, I replaced all the gas hose from tank to motor, anti siphon removed, squeeze bulb and filter so all fuel delivery is new except fuel pump. I understand what you are saying and I don't know if the motor has a fuel pressure vacuum switch or not. I will try to find out. Any idea where it might be if it exists? When running WOT the motor runs runs very smooth, can't notice any bogging down or hesitation. Just a constant alarm. The heads were almost plugged with sand and salt which is likely causing it to overheat.

acbill, you're probably on the right track with the diverters & plugged heads being the problem and getting them all sorted out can only be a good thing.

My 1988 doesn't have a vacuum switch so I don't know where they are fitted, my manual mentions a vacuum switch hose connected to the fuel pump on a V6 so follow the hoses connected to the fuel pump and see where they go.

88-89 was apparently about the time when they started using them, if you look up the VRO story at http://continuouswave.com/whaler/reference/VRO.html it gives a good insight to the VRO operation.

As racerone advised it was the diverters in the head. I changed all four diverters, cleaned and resurfaced the heads and the overheating problem was solved. racerone was right on the money. thanks for all the responses. BB

Your engine does not have a fuel vacuum warning switch. That was more common on the V6 engines.
