how do you test a power pack to see if malfunctioning.also why are there kits to remove the power pack from under the fly wheel?

There is also a charge coil under there that can go bad. First check is to disconnect the black/yellow wire from the power pack and check for spark, if you have spark, then the problem is in the wiring, key switch or kill switch. If still no spark, then you will need to check the charge coil output. if the charge coil has proper output, then you need to check for output from the power pack. A manual will be needed to trace out the problem.

ok thanks but what iforgot to mention was the motor runs great till 2900 rpm then cuts out.the power pack apparently controls spark advance.
