If you decide to fix it, do all new pistons, otherwise you have three that are past their normal lifespan and will fail soon. I had a 98' and when it ate a ring/piston I just got rid of it as is, just too many of these motors fail in this way. By the way, mine had zero carbon build up on anything. If it wasn't for this one major issue I would like these motors much more.

Which '98 motor did you have Ondarvr?

I started racing in the eary 70's, nobody liked to use Wiseco pistons at the time.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I took the other head off last night and discovered the 2 top pistons look like OE and the 2 bottoms are Wiseco. They have Wiseco numbers that have been superseded. The one on the left is standard bore and the one on the right is already bored .30 over. So it looks like I have a mix of pistons and bores. I guess this is why when you do one do them all because they will all fail soon after. I am still in the process of finding a bore mic so I can see how bad they are and depending on that I will either fish or cut bait.

Folks will put new rings on a worn piston.----New rings in worn piston grooves.----And ----BOOM---there we go again.------Take it all apart / inspect before spending another penny on it.

Just doesn't make any darn sense to me!! Like when you change the timing belt on your car, change the tensioner, water pump, and oil pump if they are all driven by the belt. The work/effort of repairs costs FAR more then parts alone............
