1993 Mercruiser alpha one gen2, trim guage issue...

Any suggestions?? please help! Not sure what to check...our trim guage is acting funky, the needle is reading that trim is up and a bit jumpy/flickering, however as I put the trim down it will still read that it is in the up position. It was working fine last week. Please let me know what I can check or why the guage is acting this way now. Is there a sensor near the trim motor or on the outdrive?? NOte: When we bought the boat the trim up button would not stop when it was supposed to automatically to then hit the trim trailer up button. I was stopping it myself to a certain point(up position) then hit the trailer trim up button to stop in full up position. All your help is greatly appreciated!!!!! Its a 1993 sea ray, bowrider Mercruiser 5.7 liter. We replaced the trim ram seals and caps over three weeks ago, and they've been working great since, up and down and guage was working fine. What could be causing this guage issue??? Thanks!

You probably need a new trim sender and trim limit switches on the gimbal ring on the back of the boat. Those things don't last long and usually the wires rot off.

By the way...the new impeller has been working mint, temp is low better than ever!
