I have a 115hp 1993 mercury outboard that idles fine but when I get the motor opened up full throttle it will run for a minute or two and then it feels as if one or two cylinders will shut down for a few seconds then it will pick its self up again. Any suggestions or tips or what to check or look at would be appericated...

Re: 1993 mercury outboard

First thing is to squeeze the primer bulb as this is happening to assist the fuel pump, if it improves the condition you can be pretty sure that you have found a problem with the fuel pump providing sufficient fuel for WOT.

Rebuild the pump.

Sounds like a bad pump diaphragm. Did your serial # show up in the stickied post at the top of the page?

Re: 1993 mercury outboard

Pick out our serial # here

http://www.mercruiserparts.com/selectSerailRange.asp?doc_nbr=115+(4+CYL.)

Look up the Mercury part #, then decide where you want to buy your parts.

Notice that there is TWO different fuel pump available, look closely at the position of the check valve in each, then compare to the one on your motor to be sure you select the correct pump diaphragm kit, they are NOT the same.

Once you have the kit part # then you can check the iBoats parts supplier using the Merc # to cross reference.

Np. It's just that a lot of new ppl get on here everyday and ask the same questions over and over. I think they should MAKE you read that sticky at the top when you register, myself. It tells you how to search the forum, etc.

Best of Luck, and I wasn't trying to preach!!!
