I have a 1993 115hp Johnson model # J115TLETS and I bought it and put in my boat from another. I transfered the wiring harness and motor to mine and it just doesnt want to run right. It will idle for a few and then die. Then only thing I have done is disconnected a plug on my motor with a purple/black/tan/brown wires that goes to my oil/fuel pump and Im just curious if this has to be connected to run and if so what all would I have to disconnect to run pre-mix instead of the injector system. Any help will be highly appreciated.

A question I have to ask.... if you disconnected your oil injection system, did you add the proper amount of oil into the gas to make it a 50:1 mix or are you running (EEK!) straight gas...???

Re: 1993 Oil injection

The harness is the warning system harness for your OMS pump. The pump is mechanical for both oil and gasoline, so it should function without the wiring connected, though that is not wise. Until you get the warning system connected and verify that the oil use is normal (about 60:1) you might consider adding oil to the gas at 50:1.

If you want to use just pre-mixed fuel, use 50:1 and disconnect both the four wire plug and the plug for the oil tank and cap the oil line nipple at the pump so that it is airtight.
