Re: 1993 seadoo

replace the starter bendex or the starter has a detached armature I have had both issues with aftermarket starters.

Re: 1993 seadoo

if the starter is spinning the bendex isn't locking or it isn't going out to the flywheel or the armature is defective,, like I said that is an aftermarket starter and those are unreliable. I have had nothing but trouble with those.

oh ok so what do you think i should do because i am not the one that bought the starter anyways and what is the bendex.

It also sometiem you get it and it does get the flywheel and it has a hard time spinning it i think that the battrey might be dead i put my volt metter to it and it says 10.34 volts so that may be 1 reason

Re: 1993 seadoo

it has a dead cell// bet it drops even lower when you press the start button,, it can't spin the starter fast enough to throw out the bendex, plus it can damage the starter if the voltage is too low. check the cells for low water, charge the battery for a day on a slow charge and see if it cranks the engine for just a few seconds. but I have no doubt the battery is the culprit

Re: 1993 seadoo

try this to prove it is the battery,, use a good battery from your boat or car,, connect the positive to the plus side of the battery using a set of jumper cables then connect the negative cable directly to a ground on the engine NOT the battery terminal, then see if it starts. and I know some genius will say never jump a ski,, that is for fools that connect the negative to the battery ,, do it like I said and you will be fine. connecting to the battery with a bad cell can cause the bad cell to boil and give off hydrogen gas and then with a spark it can blow the battery, so don't hook up the negative to the battery do it on the engine.

Re: 1993 seadoo

well i took the battery off of an old junk car in my yard charged the battery over night and tryed it the next day as of today and guess what it started right up lol so i guess thats the problem i wonder if buying a $30.00 battery off of e-bay is better than goign to walmart and getting one for $55.00

Re: 1993 seadoo

when you are sitting in the water and you need to get back to shore the only thing that you want is for the engine to start,, get a good battery so you can rely on it to get you home.
