Best thing you can do is get the OMC service manual. Too many parts to explain.

Yes, get the OMC factory manual, don't get aftermarket. The others leave out critical data.

If you don't want a nightmare of hard to reach bolts since 110/115 hp has bubble back exhaust, get the proper powerhead lift tool and an engine hoist to pull powerhead to service it.

The alternatives are spend a long time trying to remove and re-attach bolts, or cut access hole for the thermostat bokts (Not recommended)

On a 90 to 100 hp, the flat exhaust makes changing not as nightmarish.

Regarding the OMC gasket sealer required, just get permatex aviation form a gasket.

Make certain the small hole on the thermostat is clean and no obstruction before assembly.

Just use enough sealer to get it done, too much may get into that small hole and impede the ability for the outboard to run cool at idle.

You can always cut a section out of the lower cowling to get at everything and then put it back when done with sheet metal and screws. That way you can get at everything next time. I've done that.

Unless the powerhead bolts are free, not worth the aggrivation of pulling it. Its a pain for sure, but can be done with patience and another set of hands when putting the Stat Housing back in. Done it many times, Hate it, but it is doable.

I have also use a small holesaw to make two cuts to access the outside bolt heads (can usually get the center out). Once down, I go to Lowes and get two rubber gromments/Plugs that fit those holes perfectly, and it doesnt look bad as they are down on the lower portion of the cover. Makes doing the job again Sweet.
