I am trying to remove the lower unit gearcase to replace the water pump. I have had it off before about 2-3 years ago for a water pump so I am familiar with the procedure. I have all nuts and bolts off.(yes, even the one under the zinc tab). When I put it together I antisiezed all bolts. All the hardware came off easily. I still can't get the lower unit off. The forward top stud seems to have corrosion around it. I put the nut back on and hit it pretty good and it didn't budge. I put some CRC 656 on it and will try again tommorrow. And suggestions would be appreciated. I don't have a torch to apply heat, I do have a propane torch but I don't think it would get hot enough.

Thanks

Just double check and make sure all (7) connecting points are free. (1) in front, (4) on the sides, (2) in the rear. I've forgotten the one in front of the trim tab.

The propane torch is worth trying. Aluminum expands pretty fast in the heat, and the heat helps the penetrant until it boils it.

Did you lube the driveshaft when you put it on. Might be seized up inthe crankshaft.

hope it helps
