rodbolt..

I understand that you are busy.

I got the new caps ..the two tops ones are bad. Will put them in on Saturday and use Yamalube. Will this make a difference ?

Also the problem of reconnection of the VRO.We could not find where the 4 wired loom from the remote tank was connected. We used a diagnostic light to do the testing of the electrics but got no reading. Presumably as a result of the break in the circuit as a result of the VRO disconnection..we are checking another engine also a diagram in the manual.

Any suggestions ?

If she runs well after we put on the new caps, perhaps I will hold off on the re-installation of the VRO for a while.
thanks

we have everything just to connect this loom coming from the remote tank..everything is there.what was done initially was just a blocking off of the oil line.it was cut and a bolt put in it to stop it from leaking.. :) and the loom wire from the tank was chopped off.

Rodbolt,
The whole thing seems stator related , one of the problems you hinted from the beginning. The reading , 32 volts. We found this out after the motor shut down as usual and would not start again although it turned over. The tech had a spare stator and once he made the exchange, it started again on the button. I have to buy one today. Got any idea of how much they cost in your neck of the woods? Just comparing as they could run about $400 USD here.
Thanks.

hello
I am at school this week. I cant get to parts smart until next week. I am in a yamaha service school again so I am kinda limited.
any 375 or so is about how it runs here.
I have found they can test good but still fail a voltage out to the CDI. good luck and keep posting.

hello wahoo51
cool
I hope it solves that problem.
let me know. its rare to have electrical problems with yammis but when ya do its expensive. the dissapearing voltage is a tough one to find cause you have to be running when it happens with your test gear attached.
good luck and let us know how it worked out

Rodbolt

We have replaced the stator coil and the problem is solved. Lots of difference.
-Rpm is now stable with no spontaneous fluctuation in revs at idling or when running.
- motor restarts quite easily when hot as opposed to how it was before.
- no fouling of plugs, plugs are of a light chocolate color and dry.I have put the reinstallation of the oil injection on hold for the time being, premixing at 50/60 to one on the troll.

I am getting a service manual and a voltmeter as I had to assist the tech with trouble shooting.

One other slight problem with" hard gear shifting" at times, which I will raise another heading as I dont want to make a record of my postings.

thanks a million.
