I just purchased a 1994 tracker w/25 hp merc and when running the engine I've noticed water comming from the lower engine mount bushing area around the shift rod. The engine runs fine and does not overheat. Does anyone know if water flowing from this arera is normal? I recently removed the lower unit & replaced the water pump & seals assuming this to be abnormal and it is still leaking in this area. I have to assume it to be normal or I gooned up the repair effort. Thanks!

Was water leaking before your repair. You might want to check the tightness of the power head mounting bolts. Take a look at boats.net and pull up the assy drawings. Might give you a clue.

Hi James, Yes it was leaking before the repair. I feel as though it is residual. r/Phil

I have looked at the drawings. If the motor has a strong telltale stream and running cool and the thermostat is in place the water is most likely coming from the exhaust side. There is no seal that I can see where the exhaust goes into the lower unit so the water may be coming from there.

Hi James - Many thanks! Took the boat out today and fished from 6 Am to 4 pm with no issue. I'm really begining to belive it to be residual.

No, no other problems. However, looking at the photo you posted, I seem to be having the same problem. The motor does not run hot and I have been using it for almost a year now with no problem. I originally assumed it to be residual but the more I think of it, it seems abnormal. Best of luck with finding the fix - - I think I'm just going to drop it off at a repair center and pay the big bucks to have it serviced. r/phil
