Check the hose to powerhead for blockage.

nothing in hose to block it took off hose blew it put back on blew threw hose sounds llike you can hear air going threw power head and therw inlet tube no water out exhaust thanks mark

If you are using a barrel to test the water pump make sure the water is over the pump.

Maybe, you can tell that better than us because you can see it.

Really easy way to check is to submerse the lower unit in water past the water intake with the water tube sticking out and put a drill on the drive shaft to spin it, that will tell you if the pump is working.

And if that doesn't work (tube is in the pump) , shove a garden hose into the water tube in the leg and turn it on, water should come out of the telltale, it's gotta be one or the other, blockage or the pump wasn't assembled properly.

i may not should say this but once had 25 merc.same proplem had dirt dobbers nest in powerhead, had to take hose and fitting out and took garden hose with small tip to break up nest.bugs get in darndest places!

Is the powerhead getting hot? You might have cooling...just no tell-tale.

You should have water coming out of the tell-tale within seconds of starting up. Most of the water that is being pumped goes down the leg with the exhaust. If the tell-tale is plugged, all the water will go down the leg. But if the tell-tale is clear, you'll need to remove the LU and replace the pump impeller along with necessary gaskets.

Whoops, sorry I forgot that you already replaced the impeller.

Remove the LU and ensure the water pick-up tube's grommet is not pinched...this is very common and would cause your problem.
