1994 5.8l volvo

Hey all,

I am looking to purchase a 214 lxi larson bowrider with a 5.8FI volvo. Couple of questions. I understand the ever growing scarcity of the 351 parts, luckily i have a good line on parts. My questions are, does anyone have a similar setup? what is your average speed at wide open, and can you give me some idea of what a fuel burn will be? The boat is advertised to have 235hp by the dealership but i believe the engine in 1990 was increased to 275 or 280, can anyone give me any information on this topic?thanks!

Volvo has it listed as 255.

Any serial#s or model#s The 5.8 1994 could be anything from a 230 to a 270?
Speed probably 40+ and fuel at full speed???? Just guessing?? Above 20 gal hr.

Look at the list I posted, it has all the model numbers for all that started with 5.8Fi which indicates its a 5.8L Ford Injected engine, and they are all 255.

Hey all,

I understand the ever growing scarcity of the 351 parts, luckily i have a good line on parts.

If you have only looked at online catalogs I would suggest you reconsider your "good line" on parts.

It is my understanding that you cannot easily buy certain EFI and ignition parts or they are so expensive that it's cheaper to just replace them with after market ignition and/or a carburetor......... exhaust components ate scarce and more expensive than their GM counterparts.

So your "good line" may only be the local wrecking yard.

There are so many similar year GM powered Volvo Penta and Mercruiser boats out there available (that are completely supportable) that there little reason to choose one with obsolete engine setups......
