I just bought the boat and it only had 1 battery. cables and a battery switch(one with batt1, batt2, Both, and off. second set of cables were on the oposite side of the boat and I installed the new 2nd batt there. disconnected the origional battery to check and have no power to anything. There is a single cable on one side (left) dont know port or starbord sides:facepalm: this is in addition to the other two cables on that side. I am at a loss on install and bayliner manual simply states to have batts replaced buy dealer. any help would be appreciated

It is usually interesting to discover why the PO decided to sell his boat.

Here is the reply I posted to the same questions you asked over in the Bayliner section:

Welcome to iboats!

Here is a simple wiring diagram for a dual battery switch, courtesy of Silvertip:
StandardBatterySwitchWiring.jpg

You'll notice that each battery has both terminals wired, with the two negative terminals connected to each other.

BTW, port is left, right is starboard, when facing the bow. A good way to remember this is that left and port have the same number of letters.

Yah I could see your point JB but when the PO is affectionatly called DAD:p you usually know the reason for the sale. This boat is in great shape for a 17 year old boat. I think that you would be hard pressed to find on as old with absolutly no issues unless it was just restored in which case you really have to wonder if the work was good or shoddy.
