Re: 1994 Black Max 150 value
is $1000 a good deal for it - good condition, decent compression, all controls and prop included?
What's the consensus?
I'm a HUGE proponent of leak down tests!! Just tore 1992 V-175 down (I'm the original owner). All cylinders had between 100-90 psi warm, motor ran descent for 20+ year old motor, even to the day I tore it down, she ran strong. I expected little lower psi's though, so wasn't shocked by those compression reading as they were BUT, then did a leak down test, all cylinders at around 50% or worse, one was maybe 10%, three of cylinders showed some pretty ugly scuffing, was just a matter of time I figure on the old dog. Not saying yours is, but might want to check it out, I would.
Good price though if she'll make it a few more years plus, if shes never been re-build, you have a good re-builder then, JMHO
