Does anyone know what props came on this, it has 5.8 efi cobras (Volvo sx) outdrives? Also are they supposed to be counter rotating? Thanks

They probably aren’t counter rotating, I’d guess. Although could be wrong. Very easy to find out though. Put them both in forward gear and see what reaction you get when turning the prop shafts by hand. Is there not props on it now ? Even easier to tell by them.
if they are counter rotating, it’s rare that the engine rotation (mated to an outdrive) has been reversed. But easily told by looking at the diz cap and leads for firing order. Usually if it was counter and on outdrives, some of the larger VP drives have the ability to have the reversal done at the outdrive itself. Not sure if the sx has this ability though.

According to the guy I bought the boat from he switched it the rotation on the port drive, which from what I understand is accomplished by switching the swift linkage around on the drive. I’ve looked it and it’s simple simple. Apparently these drives are designed to run either direction. The props were apparently stolen and it was easier or cheaper to match them in the same rotation. Either way I’m not a huge fan of the aluminum props that currently on it. I’d prefer to set it back up to the original set up.

Should probably get the damn port motor running properly first. Not a fan of the cobra fuel injection either!

Ok. Sounds like the sx can be reversed like I was saying earlier then. Any idea of the ratio of the outdrives ? You could work out roughly then, what a good starter pitch would be. Other than doing that, you could take a guess given the size of the boat etc etc. just fit a starter trial. But urge you to find out the ratios and go from there. Likely be a 17-19” props set you’ll need to see where you are initially. Best of you borrow a couple of props to try them out. A LH might be hard to find for a borrow though.

21/17 on the upper
