One question I have though is regarding embedding the stringers in pb. I keep seeing different methods. Some people are saying to use 1/4" dowels or polystyrene to lift them off the hull. Others pb them down right to the hull. Which method is best and what is the reasoning for the spacers? If I should use spacers, at what spacing do i put them? Any insight is appreciated.

There are alot of ways to do it. Not scientific at all. The concept is to keep stringer/bulkheads from being directly placed on the hull to eliminate " Hard" spots. Hards spots can create stress fractures on the hull which then can run into a lot of issues down the line. Realising the hull is taking a pounding from the water and torque.
Methods include pcs. of 1/8" and larger;
foam, rubbermaterials that if get wet won't promote deterioration. Some shapes are off by 3/4" and still something can be placed under it. Being that high off though can just be filled with pb.

As far as materials I went small on the 1st order so I could get a feel for them and progressed in batch orders. I didn't want to pay for leftovers or outdated goods. Of course the way I move bulk wasn't the necessity. Although there may be a price break.

I used about 20 gallons for the transom and deck (I didn't have to replace my stringers). As this was my first time fiberglassing, I'm pretty sure I wasn't super-efficient in my use of resin, but that's what I used. I agree with kcassells; only order as much as you'll use in the near future to avoid buying too much or having the resin sit around too long. I guesstimated what I needed for my transom and only ordered enough for that, then ordered more for the deck.

Ordering 10 gallons of resin for starters would be pretty safe. You will easily use that much, and you'll get a better idea of how much more you might need.

Thank you all for the input. I picked up the old plywood from our upholsterer today. Going to start making all new panels. I plan to resin each panel completely. Is there any specific wood glue anyone recommends? I have some pieces from the bow and rear seat that I plan to glue and staple with stainless crown staples.

If you're referring to Upholstery spray adhesive, I usually use 3M Super 77.

I was actually referring to pieces of plywood that have to be attached to each other with wood glue for the interior panels. I wasn't sure if there was a preferred brand or type such titebond, etc,.

OK, I'd recommend TiteBond III It's rated as Waterproof and I use it all the time. Never had a failure.

I didn't accomplish much last week, but started working on the interior panels last weekend. About 75% done with all of the plywood. Need to make the rear seat, router the edges and then apply resin to everything. I test fit one of the bow pieces and am really happy with how it turned out. They were not easy though (the 2nd one wasn't bad).

These were the best prices i could find. I ordered all the glass I should need but was safe on the resin as i didnt want to have a bunch left over. Im in the middle of a full rebuild and have my transom and stringers all in and glassed in. I have about 3 gal of resin left, maybe a gallon of cabosil and I would order more MEKP than they give with the resin. They only give you enough for 1% and Im about through what they gave me for free. My next order will be another 5 gal resin, foam and some more cabosil as well as gel coat.

Finished up all of the interior panels today. Everything has a coat of resin so it should last a while. I am taking it to the the upholsterer this week. Can't wait to see it finished. It's going to be hard to not be able to install it for a several months....

Hello all,
It has been a long time since I have posted; sorry for the lack of activity. I haven't accomplished a whole lot since my last post but I have completed all of the new plywood for the interior. The upholstery should be done within the next week or so. I am going to start taking stringer measurements today. I made up some sketches in excel for various measurement points and will take those and put them into Catia and make a solid model of the stringers assembled. I recently found a shop that has all sorts of machine shop and wood shop equipment along with a 3 axis cnc router that can handle 4'x8' sheets of plywood. Membership for the shop is VERY affordable and I have all sorts of ideas going through my head of things I can make there. They even have a 2 axis plasma cutter. I plan on using the 3 axis router to cut all of the stringers.
I also found a wakeboard tower on Facebook that someone bought but never installed. It was missing a few pieces but I will make them and it should work out well. It is Indy brand and looks like it is one of the nicer designs. Many of the fasteners are hidden and it is adjusted for the boat's width by turning the curved legs. I attached a photo of the tower that is installed on a Crownline similar to ours. I am hoping to see some progress on the stringers soon. At least having them removed will feel like a significant milestone.

Very nice it’s great when you can model things to get a visual. I use solidworks all the time . You are a lucky man to have a CNC shop that you can have access to like that. I am so jealous if I had one of those around here, I would be there 24/7 making all kinds of stuff. I used to have a CNC router but it went with the business when we sold. Sucks cause if I could of made it fit in my garage it would be here. Good luck with stringers and bulkheads. I’ll be watching

Yes, I am looking forward to putting the model together. It is very fortunate that this shop is nearby. They have alll sorts of equipment that I will find projects for; embroidery machine, vinyl sticker machine, several 3D printers, powder coating booth, etc...My wife was with me when we went on a tour. I told her that she may not see me much when I get a membership....That's too bad that you don't have one around. Have you searched for one online? This place is called Maker Works.

I started putting the model together. Once it's done i will cut 3/4" polystyrene on the 3 axis router at Maker Works. Then i can assemble it to test fit in the boat.
