Hi All,

On my third outing in the boat, I noticed three different changes from my first outing.

1. The WOT RPM's seem to have dropped from 6000 to about 5500. When I went out the first time, I noticed I could go up to 6000 RPM's, but only did it for a second, didn't go above 5500 the rest of the time. On my last outing a few days ago, I could only get the boat to hit 5500 RPMs.

2. I noticed a constant clicking noise if I stood up and drove...I was pulling a tube and needed to be on the lookout. This could have been there all the time, I just wanted to know if it is normal. It starts when I get up on plane, I don't notice it otherwise. It seems to be at a constant regardless of RPMS...could be normal,,,,I just am not sure.

3. On my first outing, I would need to advance the throttle to start her the first time, then from then on, I could almost always start the boat in the center position. Now, I have to pretty much advance the throttle every time to start the motor.

I purchased the boat about a month ago, had the motor serviced, new fuel/oil pump, link and sink and timing/shift/throttle linkage adjusted. The boat was sitting for a few years before I purchased it. It was not used much, just in fresh water for water ski-ing.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

MS

well i had the same problem recently .run a compression check ,
sometimes you may have loose magnet .take a piece of hose and put it to your ear and it will help identify sound your problem is almost identical to mine ,
but i hope your outcome is better .has the motor been overheated ,
pull all of your plugs , use a piston stop tool if ya have one . you will be looking for looseness in the wrist pin and or crank bearing by appling pressure to the top of the piston while turning flywheel , if its a steady clicking noise from the powerhead ,it could be flywheel magnets ,bad wrist pin
bad rod bearing , or colappsed piston skirt ,catching as it comes across exhaust port, mine turned out to be collapsed skirt on number 1 ,
with bad wristpin bearing ,caused by overheat,
some other people may jump in .if ya want to pm me .i would be glad to help anyway i can , i lost 1000 rpm and picked up clicking noise at same time
but other than rpm drop and noise it ran good ,thats whats sad ,the noise drove me nuts ,i ended up changeing powerheads
good luck
