1994 evinrude 70 hp alarm sounding

alarm is sounding with intermitent beeps at full throtle,
back off throtle it quits, i am running 50-1 oil ratio due to no vro also water from pee hole is also cool, impeller
has been changed . engine sounds and runs great just
can't figure out alarm , can you help.

Oil injection gone? Or, just bypassed.

If bypassed, is it unplugged?

oil injection gone. engine ran with out alarm going off last year it just started last weekend.

If the vro wiring harness and the oil reservoir leads are disconnected ,the only alarm left is the engine overheat which is a constant alarm tone.If you are getting a rapid short tone alarm ,it is initiated from one of the wires from the vro harness.Look on the port side engine compartment and verify that the 4 wire amphenol plug is disconnected.

I have a 1994 Evinrude 88SPL with the same problem. I'm getting a continous alarm which apparently indicates overheating. I'm getting good water flow with no blockage. Alarm sounds once engine is warm and I'm changing throttle speed. alarm dissipates after engine is turned off and allowed to cool. I run the engine as a two stroke w/o oil injection with a 50:1 oil ratio. With the exception of the engine alarm the engine runs great.

There are two sets of wires on the pump, and both have to be disconnected if the oil tank is not used. One set runs to the oil tank, the other to the harness as specified by OB, above.

If you still get a signal after that, you are either overheating, you have a short in the tan wire leading from the temperature switch, or the temperature switch is bad. Make sure the tan wire are as far from the spark plug wires as possible.

2 different alarms Ken. Sounds like you are due for a waterpump change and thermostat check and/or change..Best to start a new topic when you have a problem. You will get better response that way...

Thanks Rick, I'm new to the system so I appreciate your help! The boat (1979 Whaler, Montauk 17' and engine 1994) were recently purchased in very good condition and problem occurred after some usage. Although engine was serviced before purchase I'm unsure exactly what was replaced and what wasn't. Thanks,---Ken

To all
Sorry i didnt get back to you about your advice you gave to me about the warning signal.
My wife had gotten sick ,so i put the boat into storage,
but will check your advice out come spring . wife doing
great ,boat was last thing on my mind at the time.
