1994 Force Elpt 120 Hp

I purchased what I was told to be a 1996 boat package Capri/Force and discovered through this forum that what I actually acquired was a 1994 Capri boat and FORCE ELPT 120 HP - can anyone tell me if there was a significant/major design change from 94 -96? Or, is the Force 120 the same from 94 to phase out in 99.

Only thing that I can think of is the ignition system. 1994 used the Thunderbolt ignition with a switch box. 1996 used the Mercury CDM ignition system. There may be some other minor mechanical changes, but the motors themselves are basically the same.

Thank you for the info folks - does the thunderbolt ignition with the switch box look a lot different then the Merc CDM system. Is there there something obvious to look at which identifies the two apart. I don't find the Solec book that I have very good.

The CDM models , have no switchbox or powerpacks. Everything is built into the coil packs.
