1994 Johnson 175 fast strike runs half way please help

I can occasionally get it to run but when it starts it sounds like it got a little bit of fire then cut out and the motor just spins, but whn it does start it will cut off after awhile, when i had it out before it would run for awhile at full throtle then die down speed back up and slow down and eventually cut off, i have replaced the power pack on it and i went to take it out again and i had it running in the yard but once in the water it wouldnt start and the ball on the fuel line goes flat like its not venting but the vent on the tank is clear if i unscrew the fuel filter from the motor you can hear the pressure release.

When the bulb goes flat, the problem is between the bulb and the fuel supply, so it is either the primer bulb itself, the fuel line, the pickup in the tank or the anti-siphon valve. If you have an in-line fuel filter it could be clogged.

also check the vent on your tank and make sure it is not closed/clogged.

you can get a 6 gallon tank and a new hose to bypass your fuel system and help isolate your problem..

thanks for the info guys i was checking to see if my tank had a anti-siphon valve on it and found that it doesnt but when i took out the fuel line that goes to the bottom of the tank there was a piece of silicone that had sucked up and couldent make it through the fuel tank cut-off valve. how it got there i have no clue but i am certainly going to see if that fixed the problem thanks to all

small piece of silicone was definately the problem she now runs like a champ. thanks everyone
