I am struggling with replacing my rectifier on a 1994 mariner 115 outboard.
Problem is battery only has 12.6v while running wot.
Through research I determined it was the rectifier that’s the issue. Picked up a new one from Pally this morning and decided to install it after work.
Orig one is all plastic and has no metal base for a ground.
New one looks similar but has a metal base and the posts are offset.
Orig has text for which post is what. ie: yellow/alt gray/tach yellow/alt.
New one has a + for the positive post but my motor doesn’t have a red wire to the rectifier.
I’m sry if I’m confusing and I am just trying to save some bucks sending to to a shop to replace a rectifier which should just be an easy replacement. I added a couple pictures of the old rectifier and the new one on the boat.
Boat still only is at 12.6 while running at approx 1500rpm. Can’t know for sure as the tach isn’t working now.
I’m desperate for advice. Tia
