Hey guys, I've recently purchased this boat and when i took it out on the water last weekend i'm only getting about 4000rpm,and 30mph. I've had the timing checked, leads checked, plugs changed, copression tested/ changed the fuel in the tank, fuel filter on the motor. After i ran it, i checked the new plugs again and they all look uniform...... what shoud i do now. ?

Thanks

Chris

What style and size is the boat this will have alot to do with checking the set up. Also what prop size are you running.

Is the boat aluminum or fiberglass what is the weight of the boat. I have a 2002 115 Merc two stroke (same motor as yours) on a 17 ft deep V and run a 20 pitch laser 2 at 47mph 5250 rpm. Sounds like that motor is not up to par, it is the 2+2 motor and possibly only running on 2 or three cylinders.

Hey murdock, the boat is 18.5' fiberglass. not sure on the weight. Yes it's the 2+2 2 stroke. Thats what i suspect (short a cylinder) but when i took the plugs out after a run they all look the same, maybe i need to run it for a longer time?? I read on another thread about some one using seafoam, or carb cleaner, to run through the carbs to clean out the fuel jets. What do you guys think?
