had a 1997 90 hp 60 degree motor on the boat, took it off and installed a 1995 115 60 degree motor. basically the same motor, but they had different wiring plugs.
there is basically no wires out side the big red plug coming out to my wiring harness from the 115 motor.
on the 1997 I had several pig tails.
luckily my buddy gave me his older ruined 88 spl that had a newer style control!! so it had this 8 foot long adapter to go from my style control( newer) to a red plug from the motor.
but after hooking everything up I am left with a plug with 4 wires..
it might be a plug that would nornally go to the VRO tank..but i cant verify from Clymers wiring diagrams( just so happens for my year they didnt label the wire coloring)
this plug is a rubber male plug with 4 femal connectors.
1 black
1 dark tan(maybe brown) with a black stripe
1 light tan with a yellow stripe
1 light tan with a ornage stripe
I also have to two wires in the engine compartment that are loose..
a tan and a black
both came out of the taped harness and terminated about the same length.
The black was broken,( no terminal on the end) the tan has a removable covered round female electrical connector added ( not factory)
the tan is spliced into a double spliced bunch of tan wires that go :
one each go to the temp senders
one goes to the fuel pump
one goes to the big red plug
one goes into the OIS box
what is this one left out in space for?
was it part of a plug that had wires from the OIL tank???
I dont have an oil tank on my boat ( i pre mix) and I didnt see the guy dissconnect the boat wiring totally....( which had an oil tankl and was using it )
hope that isnt too much
