While winterizing my buddies boat (1998 Johnson 150 Orunner) I noticed a zinc under the mounting bracket below the TNT. It's rectangular, about 8" x 2" x 1". I checked my motor and I have the recess for it but no zinc. I checked my manual but no listing for it. Went down to the local BoatUS and there were so many to choose from that were close in dimension that I couldn't choose. Does anyone know the part # for this zinc or the actual dimensions so I can pick up the correct one for my motor listed in the subject line? Also the screw size and recommended screw material would be a big help. Thanks for your efforts in advance.

2 different engines...OMC came out with many places they installed anodes, some have them in places others don't.
I'd check with a dealer on your model# and if it didn't have it to begin with, don't bother unless you have other issues.

If you need one you can get a replacement trim tab made out of zinc (for saltwater) or magnesium (for fresh water). West Marine carries them.

The long zinc you described is used on motors with the Fast-Trak trim system that came out in 1991 and is still being made. It is also the same system that Yamaha and Honda use today on some models.

The zinc part number is 433580 and it is listed in the parts books.

Thank you for the responses. My trim motor is beginning to rust, and each year the barnacle collection is growing larger. My buddies bracket seems to be much cleaner each year even though they are the same and in the same canal. Thanks for the part # Seahorse. I'll have one on this spring and hopefully will add a few years to the trim unit.
