1995 175hp EXEO lower unit oil

Last two years have been using ultra hpf lu oil but this year the shop only had hi-vis oil. Told me this is compatable and just as good for my motor. Went home and checked manual and manual says it is a suitable substitute when hpf not available. Anyone have any concerns using the hi-vis instead of hpf for a season??? Is there truly no difference? I use the motor 2-3 times a week, salt water, ocean, 250+ hrs year.<br />Thanks

I have been using this hi perf oil only for the last 2 years i am sure its better for the lower unit but dont fo nuts use what you got DONT MIX the hi perf with the regular use one or the other,

What makes HPF different from Hi Vis? What makes HPF better? Is it worth dumpin and switchin when HPF is available? I'd would rather be safe than sorry if there's a reason to.

angus...I usually just use Mobil 1 synthetic in my lower units, twin 2000 200hp Johnsons, I go out off Montauk alot and put about 150 hrs a season. Do the run from Stony Brook around the island to Montauk, then off the point for another 30-40 miles, constant 4000 RPM, and have never had any problems, oil is still nice and clean when I drop it in the late fall. Put something in there and get to the stripers right off Fire Island inlet, heard it's going nuts right now, it's killing me to be at this desk, killing me.

I had a complete rebuild of the lower in 2003 and want it to last. Just found out I have to go to Philly on Wed so I won't be in until Sat. Looks like I'll miss the start of the blitz. I'll hopefully be off of Demo tomorrow nite in my buddies boat. If I don't catch something soon I'm gonna kick the dog . I guess I'll stick with the Hi Vis unless someone posts some horror story!! PS my Brother in law has his boat behind the Three village INN.<br />Thanks
