I have a 225 that looses power/rpms after about 25 miles at 3000 rmps. Runs good up until then. Then at full throttle it will run good for a few minutes and starts cutting back. I've replaced the stator and all 6 coils. I noticed on the carb throats (bottom) there is thick green foam/slime. I replaced the water separator filter prior to last trip. Makes no difference if electric fuel pump is on or off. Tank has no vacuum. motor doesn't appear hot. recent water pump. I'm wondering if the throttle position sensor may be the cause or an suggestions. My local dealer has a long wait for service.

Well, you have me baffled, Rick. Works fine for about an hour at part throttle, then runs down.

I'm wondering if the timing is starting to change in a way related to temperature but then I draw a blank. Could she be dropping a cylinder in response to temp?

Seems to me that carb trouble would not wait an hour to intrude.

Please let us know the outcome. It is a new one on me.

Wild guess, could your carbs be icing? Water does not have to be in the fuel, just in the air for that to happen. Also, it doesn't have to be freezing outside either, just the dewpoint minus the ambient heat from the engine and at some point the velocity across the ventui in the carbs will form ice. (your green slime?) If this is going to happen to an engine, it will usually occur when the throttle has been wide open for an extended time.

You say it happens after 25 miles. How long do you have to shut it down for until it runs good for the next 25 miles?
