Looks like the shaft just pulls out, should be able to pull it out and then heat up the inpeller hub to get it off.

am i corect that drive shaft is frozen in powerhead?
if so, take piece of wood and try to hamering at cavitation plate by piece of wood, but be careful to not break cawitation plate,

if will not help, buy 1-2 liters of carosene, stand motor on flywheel vertical nad try to put inside midsection this carosene, to fill up this place where drivehaft goes into powerhead.leave it for few days

no the impeller was seized on the shaft... I patiently managed to get it removed.

I do have another dumb question, but the place I picked up the water pump kit said to rotate the impeller clockwise into the housing, but my johnson service manual says to "screw impeller into the cup in a counterclockwise direction"

I am assuming counter clockwise is the correct way for this motor?

Depends on which end of the housing you're looking at. Bottom or top. ccw is correct.

oh...now I am confused...lol

if i have the lower unit standing up right in the vice, and I slide the impeller down the shaft into place, If i am standing at the back of the lower unit(where the prop is) when i slide the housing down onto the impeller, I turn the shaft ccw while pushing the housing down on the impeller??

Oh I think I understand it now. If I flip the impeller housing upside down, and insert the the impeller in it first, I have to turn the impeller counter clockwise to get it in,

If I slide the impeller down the shaft, and press the housing down on it, I have to turn the driveshaft clockwise

Correct, push the housing down on the impeller and rotate the drive shaft clockwise.
