there are 2 seals plus the large o ring on the props housing and a oil seal on the upper.
is that all the seals that can cause oil leaks. does the water pump have any thing to cause this ?

There is an 0-ring seal on the shift rod.----2 seals and an 0-ring on propshaft bearing housing.----2 seals on the the driveshaft below the water pump.----Water pump does not cause oil leaks.-----Some oil leakage out the prop shaft / propeller area is normal for a 2 stroke.

Pull off the drained lower unit, and pressure it with a few lbs from a tire or foot pump (I use a basketball needle and a piece of rubber.) Use a spray bottle with some dishwater soap and water to locate leaks.
