1995 90 hp merc reed petals

hi all ive ben doing quite a bit of work on my eng. i am at the point whear im resealing the reed petal housings(leaking a bit) the book is kind of vauge. it says when inspecting reed petals look for crakes chips basicly any thing out of order. if i turn the reed housing up side down (petals down) ican see light threw the seats and petals. every thing is clean as possable on and around petals no stains-carbin-no blow by marks just shiney is this an indication of reed wear. im not shure if thay are worn or im just being anel

Being anal ....You appear to be using a clymer or seloc manual... Bin it and get genuine... This is a scan of the relevant page...

that page says it all im using a seloc. its pretty vauge. is that a down load from mercury if so how do i get it.
