1995 Evinrude 150--on a 1995 17'6" Stratos

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with my controller.. When i shift to neutral the gearbox doesn't kick out of gear unless I shift back to reverse then neutral.. I don't know which of the 2 knobs on the motor adjust this.. Are is there another problem? Boat ran fine last year but just started this problem... Thanks in advance..

I would check the idle rpms 600/700 rpms in farward gear. Check shift control cable by disconnecting cable, move control handle to full throttle, farward position. Shift gearcase into farward gear. Install the cable on shift pin. Pull slack out of outer cable casing. Adjust the trunnion nut for a slip fit into the anchor. Check shift switch, which will kill 3 cylinder for a second to allow gears to disenage.
