This week I upgraded boats. My new boat is a 1995 Lowe boat, motor trailer combo. The boat has a 1995 Evinrude 30HP (E30ELE0B) electric start engine. I'm wondering what charges the battery? A car has an alternator, but a boat doesn't (that I know of).

Here are some pictures. Thank you.

If you have wires coming from under the flywheel attached to a rectifier than yes it charges. There will be a charge coil under the flywheel. If you check voltage at the battery at start up and then while running at higher rpms the voltage should climb, if it is charging. The photo is a rectifier.

Yes your motor will charge the battery. The top pic shows your charging system.

Evinrude has used a flywheel driven charging system since about 1962.----Just not a belt driven unit like you see on cars !
