1995 Force 120 Stator

Greetings from rainy Cancun, Mexico. We've been chasing problems with this motor for a while now and now the mechanic says I need a stator. Problem is, the parts places online list two types, 9 and 16. Any way to tell which for my particular model? Serial: OE125035 Model H120412RD (or so says the papers I have). With shipping delays and such, I can't have them tear down the motor and then pay storage while we find the parts... Then send them back to the states when they end up being the wrong ones.... Ahhh, life in paradise.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

This is a Mercury part. Are they interchangeable? Would be great, because Mercury is known here and nobody has heard of Force.....

Mercury owns force or the name although the do not produce any engines under the force name the still have most parts available.
