1995 Grumman Deep V 17' boat/trailer and 50 hp Evinrude. Model SP1784.
It's 17' in length and has an 84" beam.
I'm totally pumped.
I was gifted this boat by a great neighbor.
It dose need a new floor.
Should the ply-wood be 1/2" or 3/4?
Also plan on painting the floor with non-slip dark gray paint.
The seats need upholstery or some of the skins if I can find them more budget-friendly.
I have looked and can't find any.
Thank you all for your help.

Floors are usually 5/8. You'll most likely need stringers and transom too. No treated wood. I would just clean the seats as best as possible and store them for now. You'll have plenty of work and money in the rest.

being a tinny, the job is easier.

floor can be 1/2, 5/8, or 3/4. do not use pressure treated. ACX or marine ply.

I would coat with the old-timers formula (just use the search function).

looks like all the wood is gone, so definitely replace the transom wood as evidenced by the brown streaks from the well drain.

regarding the seats, simply buy new. the wood and foam are shot along with the vinyl. they are just low cost folding fishing seats for about $120-$150 a pair. can not get much cheaper than what you find on-line unless you sew them yourself and have access to free foam and vinyl.

If you’re in a hot sunny climate think about going with a lighter gray on the floor. The dark can get pretty hot on the feet. Just a thought from experience.
Enjoy the project.

Nice project! First things first, when you were gifted the boat, did you get the legal paperwork too? Titles, registration and whatnot?

I highly recommend going with 5/8" or 3/4" plywood for the deck, along with the Old Timers Formula. I used 1/2" ply on my Kingfisher and it simply wasn't strong enough when I was walking around putting my bulk on it. I could feel it flexing under me. 🤪

I do wish that I'd bought sanded ply and used that for the top side of the deck. Duh.

Yeah, forget the seats and buy new. That's what I did with the KF.
I used dark gray porch paint with traction sand on the deck and it wore amazingly well. And after a few scuffs, we simply gave it a light sanding and repainted. Only took about 10 minutes to repaint the full deck.

Should be a good little project!
