Re: 1995 Johnson Ocean Runner 150 hp fuel problems

Richard, I think that we're all in agreement that no hoses are connected to the carbs. I'm just wondering what the hose that is teed into the block is for, that's the one that I just don't see in the photos or hose diagram in my OEM manual. You can see the hose and fitting in the picture I posted above. It is between the 2 large brass colored bolts just below the flywheel housing. I hope that I am not starting to come across as a pest, it's just that I like to learn as much about my motor as I can and figure that their is no better place than the iboats forums.:)

Any hose connected to the crankcase must have a checkvalve to maintain vac/pressure integrity,it might be for powering the diaphram in the vapor seperator. I'll take a look at mine when I go home around noon, its got me curious now.:)

The parts catalog calls the crankcase side a pulse nipple and the fuel side calls it HOSE, Vapor pump to tee. Sounds like some kind of pulse for the vapor pump. Why the tee would vent to the silencer cover is beyond me. I would think this would kill the pulse to the vapor pump...

Thanks Richard, I never even thought about checking the parts manual. I looked at the shopevinrude online parts site and from what I can tell, it looks like they are calling that block fitting and hose an upper bearing vent, which would make sense running it to the airbox. I swear that I learn something new here everyday. Thanks again to you and jonesg and everyone else here at iboats that so freely share their experience and knowledge.

Needs an engineer to explain how, but obviously it powers the pump and expells excess fuel into the airbox.

WELL THE REPAIR GUY GOT IT FIXED. HE FIXED THE BOGGING BY REPLACING THE POWER PACK. HOWEVER THE ISSUE OF IT NOT STARTING AFTER IT HAS SIT UP IN THE YARD FOR OVER 24 HOURS OR IF IT'S LEFT DOWN IN THE WATER FOR OVER 2 HOURS HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. I HAVE TO USE JUMP START SPRAY TO GET IT GOING IF IT WONT START. IT WILL FIRE RIGHT UP AFTER I SPRAY IT AND IT WILL START OVER AND OVER IF I RESTART IT WITHIN 2 HOURS WHEN IN THE WATER. I CAN SPRAY IT AND IT WILL START OVER AND OVER FOR ALMOST 24 HOURS IF ITS IN THE YARD.

1 pulse hose to operate the the vapor pump,
1 hose to nipple on block, passage on block goes to main bearing.
1 hose to air box for excess vapor from VST.
Fitting on the carb is float bowl vent, should have 90 rubber elbow on the brass nipple.

Hot soak restart, can be caused by the vaper pump not working.
