Can anyone tell me if the vro system on this year model for the most part reliable? I realize there is no guarantee that it will not ever go bad, just wondering if the system maybe a upgrade say from previous years. Like most debating weather to bypass or not. Is there a test to see that it is working like it should or is it is either working or not no in between?

They're reliable, about the same as remembering to mix the gas.

The test is to fill the oil tank and the fuel tank, then run it long enough for the level to go down significantly in each, now refill and measure how much of each was used and do the math to get the ratio. The exact ratio will depend on how you use the motor, lots of very low speed use will use less oil than running wide open all day. Might be in the 50:1 to 60:1 range. There are other ways to test it, but that's the easy way.

Look at the wire harness coming off of the pump if it has 4 wires you have the best version of that pump.
