Do these have wood transoms and floors like my 1973 super sport? Found one local in DFW looks nice only thing that freaks me out is the Force 120 hanging on the back. I havent been able to talk to the guy yet so figured I would ask here.

Never fails just about had my mind made up on buying my new 4 stroke and this popped up.

More than likely it will have a wooden floor and transom. The force isn't a bad motor if it's a Mercury force, which I assume it would be.

How will I know if its a Merc? Also by 1995 had they improved the flotation in these or should I expect it to be waterlogged?

Check out the 1995 brochure here.

"impact injected" foam for floatation.

It should say "force by mercury" somewhere on it. By the 90's im pretty sure they were all mercs.

Does 'impact injected" foam mean it doesnt soak up water like a sponge

A "Force by Mercury" is still a Force. I think they may have started using Merc lower units or something towards the end of their life but it's still mostly a Force motor with poor parts support. You're right to be leary of it. Not a bad motor but don't pay as much for one as you would for a comparable Johnson/Evinrude/Mercury/Yamaha which enjoy much better support.

Im thinking this is not worth 5k what do yall think. Site unseen. I will f course do a compression check and such. I was just about to pull the trigger on a new 4 strk merc when this popped up. If its a good deal then I will do this add a 4 stroke kicker for trolling and reliable propultion. I have alwasy wanted a CC but if its going to be a constant weekend wrencher to get to the lake. Ill get the 4 stroke and move on.

So went and looked at this thing seems to run well. Had 150 150 155 155 for compression and the trailer is the most heay duty boat trailer I have ever seen. Its missing the flip flop driving seat behind the helm and there doesnt seem to be much room for storage on these or a way to adda a trolling motor to the bow. Any of you got Mariners out there? How would you add a pedistal seat to the fron and a trolling motor?

A few of us have Mariners (not me). You can find a used cooler/flip flop helm seat for $100-150 on CL. Put a post and seat on the front deck and stick on a TM across the bow gunnels. Piece of cake. Looks like nice Mariner.

i like the boat, but negotiate him down. a SALT WATER Force motor........??? it does look more Merc than Chrysler with the cowl off. most people will be really put off by missing seat, and a Mariner won't sell that fast in DFW market, IMHO.

get the seat box and find a cooler that fits inside. insulation on those factory cooler seats tends to be below pathetic

GA - You make it sound so easy, like a Saturday afternoon project.

I have a 21' Mariner, it won't be getting a TM on the bow. I don't think I've ever seen one on an 18. Looks like you're the Guinea pig.
